GETTING READY - saying good morning, having showers (or running around trying to avoid them), washing hair, searching for lice, washing clothes, putting on green gecko t-shirts, eating bananas and drinking water.

ACTIVITY TIME - there are 5 types of activities we do on a rotation basis. Arts and Crafts, Library, Numbers and Logic, Performing Arts and Me and My Planet.

ENGLISH CLASS - level approriate english classes, focus is on having fun while you learn

TAKE A BREAK - drink some water, go to the toilet, tidy up, get ready for assemply. Big Kids come home from Khmer School and pop into their gecko t-shirts. 
                              

ASSEMBLY – line up, meditate, chat about the hot topic of the day, sing a song, introduce new volunteers
                              

NYUM BAI (‘eat rice’ aka Lunch) – wash hands and tuck in to meat and veggies and rice… and second helpings after that. Wash dishes, clean teeth or run around trying to avoid brushing teeth!
                              

GROUP DUTIES – The children are divided up into 6 house groups to share their jobs. Washing pots, sweeping floors, watering the garden, sorting laundry and cleaning the playground. 
                                                                                      

REST TIME - laying about in hammocks (or the lunch huts or cubby houses) to have a well earnt rest.

Fridays: receive a special nutrition pack to take home (veggies, meat/fish and rice).

ENGLISH CLASS reading, writing, singing and vocabulary for the big kids and round up, showers and uniforms for the little kids to go to Khmer school (no mean feat :-))

END OF FORMAL ACTIVITIES- but the beggining of a long evening... with 80% of the kids living at Green Gecko there is lots of fun and games to be had before sleeptime.  Volunteers fill in the Kids diaries and make final checks for the day.
