"When we opened our first shelter for street kids, a passer-by asked what our organisation was called", Tania says."Taken by surprise, we had no answer we had no name, and weren't even an organisation in our eyes. "I had always been fascinated by the hundreds of geckos that scampered about looking for prey in Cambodia. In a way, the kids on the streets reminded me of geckos as they darted about in their quest for the tourist dollar. They were everywhere, all the time.

"A Google search soon revealed other similarities..."

green
adj.

In Asian colour symbolism, green represents eternity, family, harmony, health, peace and posterity. Green is also known to signify life, growth, renewal, health, environment and freshness. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety and healing. Green suggests stability and endurance.

gecko n.

Geckos are the only lizards that have a voice. Most geckos are nocturnal - they are most active in the evenings, and hunt for their prey at night. When a gecko is caught by its tail, it releases its tail, allowing itself to escape capture. Geckos live in South East Asia. Geckos have no parental care.

project n.

A task or scheme that requires a large amount of time, effort, and planning to complete. To make a thought or feeling seem to have an external and objective reality, especially to ascribe something personal to others.
